The Grill on the Alley review in CLASS Magazine...
Mon 26th Jul 10 - 11:23

This large bar and restaurant's name might lead the unfamiliar to think this place lies down a dark foreboding alley, but it actually sits on a bright corner of a narrow lane (Ridgefield) and a major thoroughfare (John Dalton Street).

A zinc-top bar lies at the entrance, surrounded by high tables and bar stools, with high banquettes against it. Bare brick and white rectangular tiled walls add to the New York grillroom look and feel, which at the same time manages to be warm and homely.

The impressive drinks menu has a very reassuring page for the discerning drinker, with cocktails listed under reassuring titles such as Martinis, Mojitos, Collins, Manhattans, Margaritas and of course Daiquiris. Order any of this and you'll enjoy both fabulous American-style attentive service and great drink.

While the bar is excellent, this remains chiefly a restaurant with large seating areas that lie beyond the bar. Simply cooked high quality fresh meat and fish, with staples such as steaks and burgers attract an appreciative crowd of fashionable 30-somethings. Grab a seat by the bar and join them for a juicy steak.
